He Who Bears the Sword

A man becomes the things he hides from shame,

In darkness lay the seeds to grow unseen,

A war that's waged almost always in vain

Absent the light of grace to forge him clean.

We fail to see the likeness found in all,

Thus think ourselves alone when battling vice,

But truth be told, we need but speak the fall

To find the friends who'll lend a love like Christ.

To fight in darkness means to grind the slate,

But fighting faithful means to fight with light,

Because the power of God illuminates

The deep to rid the pall that blinds our sight.

Have faith there's more and more will come to drive

Your strength of will to gain this life and thrive.
